Implementation of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) Ecosystem Accounting: Recent country experiences and the pathway to synergies with the Global Biodiversity Framework (indicators A.2 and B.1)

This webinar is part of the SEEA’s webinar series “Uses of the SEEA for Policy”, developed with the aim of highlighting various priority and/or emerging policy areas that can be informed by the Environmental-Economic Accounting System (EEAS).

The event will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about countries’ recent experiences in compiling the EEAS Ecosystem Accounting, the statistical framework underlying the headline indicators A.2 Extent of natural ecosystems and B.1 Services provided by ecosystems.

In addition, during the day, these experiences will be analysed from a technical and practical point of view, with a view to how accounts can contribute to countries’ monitoring and reporting efforts for the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The objectives of this webinar are to:

• Share experiences in compiling SEAN Ecosystem Accounting, with particular attention to data sources, institutional environment, resources and methods used.
• Learn about the lessons learned and practical steps that countries have taken in compiling the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting; and
• Understand how ecosystem accounts can be used for national monitoring and reporting in the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The event will be held in English only and will be held online on May 20, 2024 at 7:30 a.m. (New York time) and 1:30 p.m. CET.
