TEEB for Agriculture and Food: Operational Guidelines for Companies

Detalles

Developed to help companies implement the TEEBAgriFood Assessment Framework, the TEEBAgriFood Business Operational Guidelines provide a practical way for companies to understand and act on their impacts and dependencies on natural, human, social and produced capital. These guidelines enable the agri-food sector to increase resilience, integrate best practices, protect biodiversity and contribute to a more sustainable food system.
The guidelines reference and build on internationally accepted harmonised business frameworks for identifying, measuring and valuing organisations' relationships with nature and people: the 'Natural and Social and Human Capital Protocols'. The protocols provide additional support and context in implementing these guidelines.
Building on the Food and Beverage Sector Guide, launched to accompany the Natural Capital Protocol, the guidelines explore, for the first time, the connections within the sector with social and human capital and the financial sector.
Beyond existing guidance, the guidelines help companies understand the interdependencies between nature and people in the value chain. This multi-capital approach is an important step for companies to apply the capital approach and integrate the value of all capitals into decision-making processes.
The guide is now available in Spanish, as well as English, Bahasa, Portuguese, Mandarin and Thai.
