Interactive Invasive Alien Species Report
Detalles
| The IPBES Thematic Assessment Report on Invasive Alien Species and their Control was approved by IPBES Member States at the tenth plenary session of IPBES in September 2023 and was produced over more than four years by 86 high-level international experts from 49 countries in all regions of the world. IPBES has just released an interactive version of the report for easy exploration and reference. The report critically assesses the evidence on trends, drivers and impacts of biological invasions and outlines key responses and policy options for the effective control of invasive alien species and the mitigation of their impacts, in order to safeguard nature, nature's contributions to people and good quality of life. Invasive alien species are one of the five most important direct drivers of biodiversity loss. Worldwide, more than 37,000 alien species have been recorded, including more than 3,500 invasive alien species. Threats from biological invasions are increasing markedly in all regions, and the current unprecedented pace of introductions is projected to increase further in the future. Impacts from invasive alien species can occur long after their first introduction, and currently observed threats from invasive alien species may lead to underestimating the magnitude of future impacts. Through this interactive IPBES tool, you can know for each taxon the total number of alien species established in the 18 IPBES subregions and their temporal trends from 1500 to 2015 for the four IPBES regions. |
