The Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative will participate in Horizon Europe’s SUSTAIN project
On June 22, the Biodiversity Foundation signed the Grant Agreement that positions us as beneficiaries of the SUSTAIN project (Strengthening Understanding and Strategies of business To Assess and Integrate Nature) of the Horizon Europe program.
The objective of this project is to provide companies, financial institutions and regulatory bodies with the knowledge and resources to better understand, assess and monitor dependencies and impacts on the nature of activities in different sectors of the economy.
This project builds on the results provided by the ENCORE (Exploring Natural Capital Opportunities, Risks and Exposures) project and will in turn feed into the ALIGN project and the Transparent project, both also funded by the EC, as well as IPBES.
The SUSTAIN project is coordinated by the Capitals Coalition and has among its members: World Conservation Monitoring Centre LBG (WCMC) UK, ShareAction SA UK, Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) NL, European International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN EURO) BE, Vivid Economics UK, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) CH, Federal Polytechnic School Zurich (ETHZ) Zürich CH and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) CH.
The FB will work mainly on the dissemination of the results of the SUSTAIN project through the IEEB Community of Practice and will feed back to the project with the data that Spanish companies provide to improve the scope and quality of the metrics that are adopted.
The project will officially start on September 1 and will hold its Kick-Off meeting on October 19 and 20, 2022 in Brussels.
