The Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB) celebrates the First Workshop on Innovation and Transformation
The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has organised the First Workshop on Innovation and Transformation of the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB), which was attended by various representatives of companies from different sectors of the economy, MITECO, the Biodiversity Foundation, business associations, the third sector and the academic sector.
The conference has served to reflect jointly on the formulas to improve the participation of companies in the IEEB and make it more understandable, accessible, dynamic and relevant for society. In this sense, the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Elena Pita, stressed the importance of the Initiative and the entities that make it up to face the environmental and climate crises that are occurring. “The opportunities and perception of environmental risk have changed in recent years, so it is necessary to promote a transformation,” he said.
The workshop has been divided into three blocks focused on addressing challenges for the transformation of the IEEB and in which the participants have worked in multidisciplinary groups to contribute their vision and proposals. Throughout the day, critical and creative thinking has been promoted, through dynamics that have encouraged collaboration, to collect all points of view and land in a reinforced IEEB based on measurable, inclusive and ambitious criteria.
Once this I Innovation and Transformation Workshop was over, the participants shared their conclusions and impressions, were satisfied with the development of the day, and stressed their commitment and interest in the maintenance and care of biodiversity as a driving force that must drive the necessary changes in the business environment.
