Nature-based solutions offer a powerful approach to help cities combat challenges such as urban sprawl, climate change, and pollution. Harnessing the regenerative power of nature, these solutions can restore degraded or damaged ecosystems, improving resilience to environmental threats and providing multiple benefits to society. Collaborative, action-oriented research efforts involving policymakers, practitioners, and communities can facilitate co-creation of knowledge, ensuring that solutions are grounded in local contexts and aligned with broader sustainability goals. Organized by the INTERLACE project, which addresses the restoration of urban ecosystems in Europe and Latin America and is funded by the European Union, the event will foster dynamic discussions, share innovative practices from both regions, and showcase learnings and resources around urban ecosystem restoration and the planning and monitoring of nature-based solutions. In addition, discussions will be fostered during the conference around topics such as: collaboration of diverse stakeholders, community participation, policy and governance, action-driven research and intercontinental cooperation. The conference will offer a mix of interactive sessions and hands-on workshops, input from experts and thought leaders in this field, and visits to experience successfully implemented nature-based solutions. Who is it for? This event is aimed at all those interested in cities and their development: people who are passionate about creating greener and more inclusive urban environments. These include representatives of local governments and NGOs, urban planners, researchers and activists, as well as policymakers, architects, institutional funders and representatives of EU institutions.
