Nature Watch Santander 2024

From 14 to 16 March 2024, the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander will host the Nature Watch Santander 2024 event, dedicated to ecotourism and nature observation. This forum, held in collaboration with the Tourism Sustainability Plan “Santander Norte Litoral–Costa Quebrada”, aims to bring together 70 participants in a face-to-face environment to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of ecotourism.

The event will focus on the geology and birdlife of the coast, with special attention to the osprey, emblem of NatureWatch Santander 2024. 10% of the registrations and the proceeds from an art auction will be allocated to the conservation of the osprey in the Bay of Santander, supporting its reintroduction as a nesting species.

The programme will include lectures on geotourism in the context of UNESCO Geoparks, ecotourism experiences in Santander and Cantabria, and discussions on the potential of ecotourism in the region. Parallel activities related to literature and cinema with natural themes will also be offered, with a focus on the maritime environment of Santander. The external activities will include two excursions: a navigation through the Bay and the North Coast and a walking route from the Sardinero to the Cabo Mayor Lighthouse.
