On 28 November, the Oceanographic Centre of Malaga will host the event ‘Marine and Coastal Restoration: Discussing Policy Solutions for the Euro-Mediterranean Region’, which is part of the second mission for the Institutional Dialogue on Natural Heritage. Organized by the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, with the support of Plan Bleu, Marine Institute, MedCities, Region of Crete, Region of Sardinia, Ministry of Spatial Planning and Urbanism from Montenegro, the day will bring together various stakeholders to discuss the challenges and solutions related to the restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems in the Euro-Mediterranean region, contributing to key policies such as the Global Biodiversity Framework and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2023. One of the expected outcomes is the creation of a joint declaration to overcome political obstacles in effective restoration.
The event will include round tables with representatives of the European Commission, the Berne Convention, and various Mediterranean regions, and within its framework case studies on good restoration practices in Spain will be presented.
