| On 3 and 4 October 2024, the Royal Society will host a conference chaired by Sir Partha Dasgupta FRS, bringing together scientists and companies to discuss how trends in environmental deterioration are giving rise to new risks to business models and investments. The discussions will help entrepreneurs understand the latest scientific developments on the changes taking place in the natural world, the risks their companies face as a result, and the measures that will help them mitigate them.
The conference will bring together key stakeholders from science, commodity supply chain companies and financial services to build on the findings of the Dasgupta Report and global initiatives, such as the Global Biodiversity Framework, the Nature Positive Initiative and the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD, among others. Particular attention will be paid to the challenge of measuring nature and ensuring that companies have the information they need to develop and implement a strategy to reduce nature-related risks and make the most of investment opportunities. The discussions will help identify common research priorities, promote collaboration and formulate consensual policy recommendations to protect nature. |
