Circular Procurement: Catalyst for Biodiversity and Climate Resilience
Detalles

Biodiversity and climate change are interconnected issues, and ecosystems and biodiversity play a crucial role in regulating our climate. Circular procurement can contribute to mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity by minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting natural habitats.
The ECESP Leadership Group on Circular Procurement and the Leadership Group on Biodiversity and Climate invite you to their next joint #EUCircularTalk on 20 October 2023 from 10:00 to 12:30 CEST. It aims to foster inclusive dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders outside of the Leadership Groups, bringing together a wide range of participants to work towards our circular economy goals.
In this session, the synergies between circular procurement and biodiversity/climate, two crucial topics for sustainable development, will be explored. Circular purchasing focuses on sourcing goods and services with minimal environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. By promoting the use of recycled materials, extending the life of products, and encouraging responsible waste management, we can reduce resource consumption and transition to a sustainable economy.
The event will feature a full agenda, starting with a general introduction by a representative of a renowned research institution, highlighting the link between circular procurement and biodiversity/climate. Participants will have the opportunity to hear representatives from cities/municipalities share their experiences on integrating circular procurement strategies, calculating scope 3 emissions and using circular procurement to achieve their climate and biodiversity goals.
