El concepto de Límites Planetarios fue desarrollado por un equipo internacional dirigido por científicos del Centro de Resiliencia de Estocolmo y presenta un conjunto de límites dentro de los cuales la humanidad puede seguir desarrollándose y prosperando durante generaciones. Cruzar estos límites aumenta el riesgo de generar cambios medioambientales abruptos o irreversibles a gran escala. La herramienta en línea de los Límites Planetarios ayuda a sus usuarios a explorar la realidad de cómo hemos llegado a donde estamos, y considerar las acciones necesarias para que podamos recuperar nuestro estado estable.
