Nature Action 100 published the results of its first baseline assessments of the initiative's 100 companies at the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP16) in October 2024. The initiative will continue to monitor and evaluate corporate progress to provide crucial insights into nature's action in key sectors.
Initial corporate assessments show that most companies are in the early stages of addressing their nature-related impacts and dependencies and more urgent and ambitious action is needed to achieve investor expectations of the initiative, mitigate the growing risks facing their companies, and champion the role of the private sector in achieving global biodiversity goals.
The main conclusions obtained in the report are; Most companies disclose an ambition, few companies disclose robust nature-related assessments that are vital to developing credible plans, a significant number of companies disclose nature goals and plans to implement them, and companies disclose limited progress towards recognizing and protecting the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities.
