The EU responsible for 16% of tropical deforestation

WWF has published this April the report ‘Picking up the pace: the continuous impact of EU consumption on nature‘, which highlights that the EU is responsible for 16% of imported tropical deforestation and its associated emissions, just behind China.

The report is based on data and information collected by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and through the transparency initiative ‘Trase’, with information from the period between 2005 and 2017, this being the last year with available data.
