State of knowledge regarding how we can improve adherence to the Mitigation Hierarchy, with a particular focus on the avoid stage
Detalles
| The report aims to provide an overview of the state of knowledge on how we can improve compliance with the mitigation hierarchy (how impacts on biodiversity can be avoided first, then mitigated and compensated), with a particular focus on the avoidance stage, especially in projects that impact nature. Based on systematic mapping, the report synthesizes knowledge on how ecosystem services/natural capital concepts foster nature within planning processes that are likely to impact biodiversity. The document also provides information on EU cases and practices that actively consider the ecosystem services aspect of the Mitigation Hierarchy with developed recommendations on best practices. |
