Este informe del Observatorio Forestal Mundial del Instituto de Recursos Mundiales (WRI) revela que en 2022 se perdió una superficie de bosque tropical del tamaño de Suiza, ya que la destrucción forestal aumentó un 10 % en comparación con 2021. Este ritmo de pérdida de masas forestales como consecuencia de la tala de franjas de bosque tropical para la agricultura, la minería y otras actividades comerciales, equivale a la pérdida de 11 campos de fútbol por minuto.
