Experience and reflections from piloting TNFD’s LEAP approach on an agriculture corporate loans portfolio
Detalles
| IndusInd Bank, an India-based bank, participated in Global Canopy's Task Force on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) pilot program prior to the launch of the TNFD's final recommendations in September 2023. The TNFD has developed a series of recommendations and guidelines for organizations to identify, assess, manage and, where appropriate, disclose their dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities in relation to nature. Its recommendations and guidance help organizations integrate nature into decision-making and ultimately support a shift in global financial flows from nature-negative to nature-positive outcomes. With support from The Biodiversity Consultancy and Global Canopy, IndusInd Bank piloted the TNFD's LEAP approach to identifying and assessing its nature-related issues. The pilot project focused on the application of the first two phases of the LEAP approach to the agricultural sector component of IndusInd Bank's corporate loan portfolio in India. These phases included locating the bank's interface with nature and assessing its dependencies and impacts on nature in relation to its lending to the agricultural sector. By improving its understanding of nature-related issues, IndusInd Bank aims to provide targeted products and informed advice to its clients in the agricultural sector, helping them to address nature-related risks and adopt sustainable business practices. |
