Business Models and Investments for Nature
Detalles
| The potential of investments in nature, such as nature-based solutions (NBS), to address environmental challenges while providing multiple socio-economic benefits is increasingly recognized. Although the flow of finance to NBS is increasing, they remain severely underfunded, and the absence of consistent and monetizable revenue streams remains a key obstacle to scaling up private financing to NBS. Privately funded investments in nature have great potential for growth. However, they need support from public finance to de-risk investments and improve policy incentives and tax benefits to scale up. This document, prepared by members of the financial sector of the EU Business and Biodiversity Platform (EU B&B), aims to foster a more sustainable relationship between resilient ecosystems and business activities. It also highlights six existing business cases that contribute to nature-positive outcomes. These examples are identified according to sectors of high opportunity, taking into account the materiality and impact of the investment, such as in forestry, regenerative agriculture and urban ecosystems. |
