Detalles

The Natural Capital Symposium is a high-level international event of leaders and academics driving the transformation towards ecological and inclusive development. This event will present inspiring advances in the scientific, political, financial, social, cultural and other avenues to integrate nature into decisions and pioneer scalable solutions.

During the conference, which will take place from June 4 to 7, 2024 at Stanford (USA), attendees will share lessons learned, build capacities, and learn about success stories, while contributing to building a global community of practice.

This year’s symposium will focus on integrating natural capital approaches into policy and investment decisions. The sessions, designed to attract participants from a wide range of backgrounds, will highlight success stories, innovations and impact on policy and financial instruments; discuss how to conduct natural capital assessments and accounting and adapt them to various applications; and explore new frontiers of research. Topics include:

  • Progress in the integration of natural capital approaches in international financial institutions.
  • Environmental justice and inclusion: social and cultural dimensions, biocultural values.
  • Development and application of Gross Ecosystem Product (EBP) in China and around the world; accounts of natural capital in the broadest sense and their links with political and investment decisions.
  • Innovations in results-based financing to secure natural capital.
  • Connections between nature and health, including land-use changes and vector-borne diseases, and urban nature and its mental and physical health benefits.
  • Soil degradation, climate change and impact on ecosystem services.
