Launch of the GRI Biodiversity Standard: a revised standard for disclosing biodiversity impacts

Detalles

GRI has published the standard GRI 101: Biodiversity 2024, which updates, expands and replaces GRI 304: Biodiversity 2016. To contribute to the global goals of halting and reversing biodiversity loss, companies need standardized metrics and a level playing field to measure, understand and manage their impacts on biodiversity. To date, at least 2000 organizations around the world use GRI 304: Biodiversity 2016 to disseminate quantitative and qualitative data on biodiversity.

The information disclosed in the new biodiversity standard is in line with the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and is consistent with the recommendations of the TNFD and the ESRS standard on biodiversity and ecosystems.

GRI 101 helps organizations better understand which business decisions and practices lead to biodiversity loss, where in their value chain impacts occur, and how they can be managed. This, in turn, will help organizations become more resilient to system disruptions and respond to global concerns about biodiversity loss and raise awareness among consumers, investors, and other stakeholders.
