Exploring Synergies and Trade-Offs for Transformations to the SDGs and Beyond.
Detalles
| According to the World Sustainable Development Report 2023 (GSDR), in order to achieve the transformation needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is necessary to facilitate synergies and eliminate trade-offs between the different SDGs. Understanding these synergies and trade-offs is critical to assessing progress towards the SDGs through voluntary national reviews and to considering global targets beyond 2030. This session presents the ongoing research on these synergies and trade-offs carried out by some of the institutions in which the members of the Independent Group of Scientists who drafted the SDG 2023 work. The implementation of the SDGs depends on localized actions and local contexts. Therefore, case studies and empirical data on context-specific synergies and trade-offs are critical to drawing lessons about how transformation occurs. This event, which is the initial phase of a project exploring synergies and trade-offs between SDG targets, will showcase examples from Japan, Finland and Sweden. The event will foster collaboration and partnerships to accelerate progress towards the SDGs by facilitating synergies and eliminating trade-offs. |
