The 5th NICE Cities Panel (NCP) will host a presentation of NICE partners involved in multi-level stakeholder engagement and participatory activities to maximise impact and increase the potential for replication and scaling up of nature-based solutions (NBS) developed by NICE, assessing the question: What comes next for the integration of SBN water treatment? Objectives:
ICLEI will present an overview of the workshops held in European cities (e.g. Offaly, Belgrade, Genoa), and the development of tailor-made SBN learning units to educate public administration sectors and municipal technicians, making use of the Integrated Management System (IMS) of the UrbanbyNature (UbN) programme, and the Integrated Management System (IMS) of the UrbanbyNature (UbN) programme, and the Integrated Management System (IMS) in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Participants in the NICE Cities Panel (NCP) will find a space to express their views on the constraints they face in the process of implementing NICE pilots in cities, such as difficulties in obtaining building permits and legal authorisations, lack of regulatory instruments to help include these actions or baselines for a cost-benefit assessment, to estimate the monetary compensation (water reuse, health, and water storage) of these improved natural treatment solutions. At the end, participants will leave the roundtable with new ideas on both issues, planning policy orientations and tailor-made training for the prioritization, implementation and ultimately replication and scaling up of water treatment NBS in rural, peri-urban and urban contexts. |
