14th European Conference on Ecological Restoration

Detalles

SERE2024 is an international conference organized by the European section of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SERE), which is held in Europe every two years. During the last week of August 2024, everyone working in the science, practice and policy of ecological restoration will gather in Estonia, Tartu, to share knowledge and discuss the future of European nature.

Ecological restoration is a topic that is high on both the political and scientific agendas. The decline of biodiversity demands our urgent attention, and degraded ecosystems around the world require an effective, knowledge-based recovery pathway. The EU is actively working on the Nature Restoration Act, and ambitious new targets and measures to reverse Europe’s biodiversity decline will be agreed in 2024.

The SERE2024 conference in Tartu will be an excellent meeting point at this crucial time to develop the most effective approaches for the long-term recovery of nature. It provides an opportunity to foster the reciprocal exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences between researchers, practitioners and policy-makers across Europe. Sessions will cover topics ranging from the theory and practice of restoration of diverse ecosystems (wetlands, grasslands, forests, rivers, agroecosystems, urban and marine ecosystems) to the socio-economic and political contexts of ecological restoration. Particular attention will be paid to discussions focusing on the development of national restoration plans under new EU legislation.
