Capacity, Knowledge and Learning Action Plan for the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration
Detalles
| The Action Plan on Skills, Knowledge and Learning is one of the main outcomes of the Working Group on Best Practices led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and established to carry out system-wide capacity building efforts to support the implementation of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030. It emphasizes the need to integrate knowledge about restoration into educational and natural resource management programmes at all levels, including by educating and training current and future generations of practitioners, educators, policy-makers, private sector leaders, implementers, practitioners, researchers, youth leaders, community leaders and volunteers. It also highlights the importance of learning from and sharing the knowledge developed by indigenous peoples and local communities, and recognizes their contributions to ongoing restoration efforts around the world. This action plan identifies gaps where knowledge products or capacity development initiatives are needed in various stakeholder groups, based on the results of a global assessment of capacity needs, an inventory of capacity development initiatives and knowledge products, and several targeted consultations. It describes existing knowledge products and capacity development initiatives that can be replicated or scaled up to fill these gaps. Building on these efforts, the action plan specifies the terms of reference for eight key capacity and knowledge development initiatives based on a set of recommended priority actions. |
