The need to integrate biodiversity into economic growth and development is increasingly recognized, and it is now also firmly rooted in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Drawing on the experiences and knowledge of 16 predominantly megadiverse countries, this report examines how biodiversity is being integrated into four key areas:
  • At the national level, including national development plans and other strategies, institutional coordination and national budgets.
  • In the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors.
  • In development cooperation.
  • And in monitoring and evaluating biodiversity mainstreaming and how it could be improved.
