Sustainable and Responsible Investment in central banks’ portfolio management – practices and recommendations
Detalles
| The report "Sustainable and Responsible Investment in central banks' portfolio management - practices and recommendations" presents 10 recommendations for central banks to deepen their understanding of responsible sustainable investment (SRI) policies and improve their SRI practices. These are based on a step-by-step approach (Measure, Act and Assess), inspired by the climate framework of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI). While taking into account central banks' own constraints, this report recommends ways to include sustainability considerations in governance frameworks and to measure exposure to sustainability risks. It also provides guidance for central banks to implement their SRI policies and integrate sustainability considerations into reporting practices and assessment processes. Since central banks' mandates differ, the paper does not propose a one-size-fits-all solution. Rather, it allows central banks to take into account their own specific circumstances, while drawing inspiration from and seeking consistency with established best practices among institutional investors. In addition, the publication includes a wide variety of case studies to encourage central banks that have not yet adopted SRI practices to build on the experience gained by the pioneers. Similarly, central banks that are at the forefront face the challenge of continuing to improve their SRI practices in order to respond to environmental challenges. |
