Transforming agri-food systems: Building a new narrative

The main objective of this workshop is to put into practice the discussions of the Montpellier Process, an initiative promoted by the Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework, which seeks to draw on the experiences of a diversity of perspectives and stakeholders from around the world to help participants jointly develop key messages with the aim of devising a new narrative, in order to get closer to an effective transition towards sustainable agri-food. This effort will be a concrete and useful step for policy and decision-makers, but also for civil society, to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (MGBKM). The approach will be based on an intersectoral and holistic perspective to address the polycrises we face in the Feed-Protect-Care nexus. Beyond Target 10, several targets of the MGBKM address sustainable production and consumption systems and are directly related to the need to transform agri-food systems and create an enabling environment to facilitate the transition. Using collective intelligence techniques and design thinking (a method focused on the uses, expectations and needs of users), the workshop will allow interactive exchanges between participants in a safe and open environment. This working session will allow everyone to participate, respecting the diversity of existing opinions, to move towards an agreement on joint key messages for the new narrative. |
